RP 3440 new server - will we get an A6829A to work?

I have had suppliers and HP resellers give me conflicting answers. Moved from a Dclass to Kclass 9000. Need to connect the A3311A storage enclosure to the new RP 3440. We won't be using them for a critical application but for basic use. Will the A6829A work in the RP server? Even though I've been told HP hasn't tested it in the RP, maybe some of you know it "will" work in the RP. Then we can connect the A3311A which contains 8 disks; 2 are A5286A (18.2 GB HS/FW LP) and the other six which are A5238A 9.1GB Low Profile Disks.

your card A6829A will work. Have a look at this page:

It's showing the supported options, including your PCI Dual port U160 SCSI adapter.

But the problem is, your SCSI card supports LVD/SE, but the A3311A is most likely HVD - so your SCSI card works with your server, but NOT with your disks.

The A3311A can be either SE or Diff. depending on what drives you put in it. The drives you listed are diff, but the card is not. The card is supported in that server, but will not work with those drives. If you put different drives in the enclosure, your configuration would work.

IMHO using such converter will be patchwork.
You'll have a fast server and very slow disks. Additionally, this solution will be unsupported. Think about a nice small disk subsystem like DS2110

Thanks. I tend to agree it would be like putting out good money after bad. Just wondered if someone might have had raving success with the converters. We will have an A3311A for sale with its disks as well as another external box filled with 9GB disks, ultimately our entire Dclass 9000 server with 2 blazing 260MHz CPU's should you know anyone interested in making us an offer.
