RP2470 - errors after motherboard swap.

After replacing the motherboard in an RP2470 I'm getting a warning at boot. HPUX is installed and the systems runs fine, but after a reboot this message always appears. Have a look:

Log Entry # 0 :
SYSTEM NAME: uninitialized
DATE: 02/14/2006 TIME: 13:10:18
ALERT LEVEL: 6 = Boot possible, pending failure - action required

SOURCE: 3 = PDH
SOURCE DETAIL: 0 = unknown, no source stated SOURCE ID: 0
PROBLEM DETAIL: 0 = no problem detail

CALLER ACTIVITY: 2 = config STATUS: 0
CALLER SUBACTIVITY: 7B = implementation dependent
REPORTING ENTITY TYPE: 0 = system firmware REPORTING ENTITY ID: 00

0x48000060300027B0 20424144 53534E23 type 9 = ASCII Message BADSSN#
0x58000860300027B0 00006A01 0E0D0A12 type 11 = Timestamp 02/14/2006 13:10:18
Type CR for next entry, Q CR to quit.

After this, if you quit this warning message, the server starts up, but every time you power on it is the same. Any Ideas?

Hi,

Did you configure the GSP ?
Run lc command and set a name for lan-console.

Re: RP2470 - errors after motherboard swap.

It means the System serial number was never set. This used to be done with a CE utility called SSCONFIG. not sure if its done from GSP these days.

It could also be a GSP or firmware revision issue, but is usually just a configuration issue.

Steven,
that message looks like from 14 Feb 2006!
Also check you /var/adm/syslog/syslog.log for any errors.

Re: RP2470 - errors after motherboard swap.

Hi Steven,

This is probably due to the fact that an HP CE needs to run the SS_Update utility to set system specific ID info on this new MB.
This is a utility that only HP personnel can run.

Re: RP2470 - errors after motherboard swap.

Hi Steven,

your system has a problem with its serial number.
If you replaced the original with a new replacement part with a blank serial number, you may run "init" from the service menu.
You are able to set the product number and the serial number only once - be careful!

Hope this helps!

Torsten.
