RP3440 errors

I just received an RP3440 A7137A server with one 800Mhz Dual Core PA8800 CPU and 4 x 2gb memory. I am getting a red light on the front display when turned on. When I go to the Service Logs I see cpu mismatch errors and sometimes a memory error. Are my errors because I need a second dual core CPU in the system? Also, I see an entry in the memory fault table in the attached file with the entry 2048mb active-sbe. Is this a defective stick of memory. Attached is the printout I saved from the RP3440 BCH.

Also, I get an error when I run "search" from the BCH "main" menu to look for bootable devices. It shows the DVD rom and the disk drive but then I get a lot of cryptic information and it tries to reboot only to tell me I have a CPU mismatch problem. This is also in the attached file.

Can you please give me some insight into this issue? Thank you.

OK:

1) Replace suspect dimm in 1/b (rp3440 use quad sets)
2) Go to CM> and post ps, ss, 'df -nc -all' & sysrev results
3) clear the logs SL > C
4) at BCH do SEA IPL to search for bootable devices and post results

After you get the system stabilized, you might want to run (or download and burn a copy of) ODE and test the rest of the system.

Re: RP3440 errors

Note: That attachement is for Itanium family and this is a Pa Risc family. (* RP v. RX *)

I read that as having 2 cpus.

I see the error for DIMM in slot 1b.

I thought these event logs were supposed to overwrite? I've never see GSP logs full like that.

Re: RP3440 errors

Attached is an output file with the results of all the commands both of you asked me to run. The results are towards the bottom half of the file.

Re: RP3440 errors

Hi:

So you have a problem with your 2nd CPU - Could the first be PA Risc and the 2nd IA64?

Re: RP3440 errors

I agree, one of the modules really looks strange.

Hope this helps!
