RP4440 Incompatible Processor Mix

Hello,

While upgrading PA8800 > PA8900 CPU of a RP4440, upgrade went fine but when we tried to install back the PA8800, we got the follwing message: Incompatible Processor Mix - System will not boot.
Note that only 1 PA8800 processor is installed and we still get the message of processor mix.

It seem that once the PA8900 was installed, the system could not unregister it anymore.

Appreciate feedbacks to get the machine up and running again with the old processor.

What did you do exactly for just PA8900 processor upgrade?

it seems that you cannot go back to the older ones once the system has been upgraded

also its worth just checking your upto date with the latest firmware aswell, just incase there any bugs in it not listed

Thank you for your replies.

The PA8900 was installed with all the needed I/O controllers upgrades.
Then we put back the PA8800 with the previous hardware.

This was done to test the upgrade on a stand by server before doing it on the live.
Now after we moved the PA8900 and acessories to the live server, the live system started normally but upon trying to reboot the standby server we faced the problem.

The problem is now clarified:
upon upgrading to PA8900 the system model changed accordingly (nvram settings)
in order to revert back, the model has to be set back - this can only be done by using a confidential tool from hp which allows the SS_update command to run.
(the tool generates a password - I guess hp made it that way to avoid someone to change the sysboard S/N which is possible from SS_update)
