RP4440 Memory problem - Hardware Deconfigured

Hi all,
I have a problem with a RP4440 server:
there are four slots of memory in "Hardware Deconfigured" state.
Slot 1a 1024M Hardware Deconfigured
Slot 1b 1024M Hardware Deconfigured
Slot 1c 1024M Hardware Deconfigured
Slot 1d 1024M Hardware Deconfigured

Slot 2a 1024M Active
Slot 2b 1024M Active
Slot 2c 1024M Active
Slot 2d 1024M Active

Please help me what is the cause of this misconfiguration. Perheaps is a defective motherboard?

Thank you in advance.

Re: RP4440 Memory problem - Hardware Deconfigured

Deconfigured memory is almost always due to defective memory. I would start by replacing the memory indicated - Slots 1a - 1d.

Re: RP4440 Memory problem - Hardware Deconfigured

Hi Joshua,
Thank you for your response.
Please let me know which is most suspected to be defective: 4 memory modules or the motherboard? Is there any way to test if it can be the motherboard defective?

Should I replace 4 memory modules or the whole board?

Thank you.
Torsten.

Re: RP4440 Memory problem - Hardware Deconfigured

Hi,

this system needs memory modules installed in pairs of 4 DIMMS, e.g.

Slot 1a 1024M
Slot 1b 1024M
Slot 1c 1024M
Slot 1d 1024M

If 1 DIMM fails, all 4 DIMMs will be deconfigured.

So you need to investigate the failed DIMM.
Once this is found and replaced, all 3 remaining DIMMs are able to continue to work.

I would recommend to contact the HP support.
They will analyze the diagnostics logs of your server and arrange the replacement.

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: RP4440 Memory problem - Hardware Deconfigured

Hi Torsten,
I check the output from STM and I see that the memory error log is empty:

Memory Board Inventory

DIMM Slot Size (MB)
--------- ---------
1A 1024
1B 1024
1C 1024
1D 1024
2A 1024
2B 1024
2C 1024
2D 1024
--------- ---------
System Total (MB): 8192

Memory Error Log Summary

The memory error log is empty.

Also from event log and from syslog I do not see any log registered.

Please tell me what you think, is there any problem with a memory module?
How can I determine which module?

Thank you.
