RP7410 crashes when slave core I/O added

Re: RP7410 crashes when slave core I/O added

the disks are not being shared. Can you set the scsi ids on the internal drives? I swapped out the MP's and the Lan/scsis. Logs show nothing out of the ordinary. Do I have to change any of the interanl cabling? I just can't believe that this is a hardware issue because I have duplicated the error in both systems. I think it has something to do with the drives but I can't pin it down. I have 10+ years experience in HP hardware and I am banging my head against the wall on this one!

Oh, and I have tried to bring it up with one LAN/SCSI and to MPs with the same results..

Re: RP7410 crashes when slave core I/O added

I summarize:

You switched the power off and installed a second MP to the upper slot. One LAN card is inserted in the most right, one in the most left slot. The system is failing.
You did try with 2 MPs and 1 LAN card in the most right slot. Same result. Right so far?

Hope this helps!

Re: RP7410 crashes when slave core I/O added

that is correct. I also did soft resets to the MPs and full shutdowns. Also, pulled the batteries on the MPs to blow away any image that was saved on them and I even started completely over by running the cc command and brought the system back to one cell, two procs, one set of mem and one drive. And always came back to the same point. Everything works great until the second mp is installed.

Re: RP7410 crashes when slave core I/O added

Please try this:

Shutdown the OS, *don't* power off the system.
Install the second MP now.
Reset the system and try to boot.

Hope this helps!

Re: RP7410 crashes when slave core I/O added

If you have installed additional drives in the 2 lower slots pull them as they be causing bus faults.

Re: RP7410 crashes when slave core I/O added

Sorry, was out of the office... I pulled the bottom drives and tried to come up with the lan/scsi in and out. Still crashing. I have been running the systems without the slave core in. they work just fine without them. Can someone tell me the latest firmware rev? Maybe that's the problem...

Re: RP7410 crashes when slave core I/O added

Latest firmware is revision 6.5

Go to the MP:CM> and do sysrev

Should look like this:

MP:CM> sysrev
Cabinet FPGA and Firmware revision report
System Backplane : GPM FM OSP
------- ------- -------
1.002 1.002 1.002
PCI Backplane : LPM HS
------- -------
1.002 1.000
LPM BOB DRAIN PDHC PDC
------- ------- ------- ------- -------
CELL 0 : 2.002 1.000 1.001 2.004 17.009
CELL 1 : 2.002 1.000 1.001 2.004 17.009
FPGA MP
------- -------
Primary Core IO : 2.008 4.025
Secondary Core IO : 2.008 4.025

Did you try to insert the MP while the OS is down but power switch is on?

Hope this helps!

Torsten.
