RP7420 MP refuses to recognize cells power on status

I have a RP7420 with two cell boards, both in Power Off status. When I use the PE command against either cell to reverse the Power On/Off status, the cell boards physically respond by powering on or off as seen by the LED status. However, the MP refuses to recognize PE On status of each cell board, in every case saying the cell is still in Off status.

MP:CM> pe

This command controls power enable to a hardware device.

T - Cabinet
C - Cell
D - DVD/Tape
P - IO Chassis
Select Device: c
Enter cell number: 0

The power state is OFF for Cell 0.
In what state do you want the power? (ON/OFF) ON
MP:CM> pe

The power state is OFF for Cell 0.a hardware device.
In what state do you want the power? (ON/OFF)
T - Cabinet
C - Cell
D - DVD/Tape
P - IO Chassis
Select Device: c
Enter cell number: 0

The power state is OFF for Cell 0.

Re: RP7420 MP refuses to recognize cells power on status

Are the cells still off or on followed by off?

Check the MP logs.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: RP7420 MP refuses to recognize cells power on status

They stay in the OFF state as far as the MP is concerned (in logs and by screen text feedback). But physically, they power up and down in response to PE ON and PE OFF commands given to the appropriate cell boards, as seen by the LEDs.

Re: RP7420 MP refuses to recognize cells power on status

Check the status with "PS" command and look for any failed status, voltage, failed fans, overtemp, ... - what messages you get in to MP logs during power on/off?

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: RP7420 MP refuses to recognize cells power on status

Looks at this point like it's a PDHC firmware issue, am updating it. Thanks all who replied.
