Regarding kernel parameter maxssiz...

Hi all,

We have one C class hp server.(Model:HP_9000/C8000).

I am getting the following error whenver start the database.We are using the Telelogic CM Synergy database.
Please find the message below....

Pid 18221 received a SIGSEGV for stack growth failure.
Possible causes: insufficient memory or swap space,
or stack size exceeded maxssiz.


This is causing the router process to abort. The problem has been encountered for the second time this week.


I checked the swap space.Sufficient swap space is available.


I need to increase the massiz parameter?.
Please give me your valuable Solutions ASAP.

Check 'swapinfo -mt' is you aren't running out of memory.

Suffient swap space is available.

Run "kmtune -q maxssiz". This will give you its value.

You can also check SAM to get a numeric value if it returns a hex value. The value may need to be increased.

Don't use SAM unless your all patched up.
Alternate way is the following:

cd /stand/build
/usr/lbin/sysadm/system_prep -s /stand/build/system (* this will build a copy of your kernel *)
vi /stand/build/system
change MAXSSIZ parameter
mk_kernel -s /stand/build/system
kmupdate
cp /stand/system /stand/system_old ( save kernel )
cp /stand/build/system /stand/system ( new kernel overwrites old )
shutdown -r now

note: do this off hours.
