Hi Santosh,

From the console, enter in GSP:

#Ctrl+B (Enter)

From GSP, type EL:

GSP> EL

EL

Current LAN port access: Enabled --here do you have it enabled or disabled? If it is disabled, enable it!

GSP> CO -- to return to the COnsole...

Re: Remote console on K-class server

Hi again,

In the GSP, check also the Lan Configuration:

GSP>LC

GSP> LC

LC

This command allows you to modify the LAN configuration.
Current configuration:

MAC Address :
IP Address :
GSP Host Name: --here I use c
Subnet Mask : 255.255.0.0
Gateway :

Re: Remote console on K-class server

hi,

on the k class you have to turn the key to service position and then do your control b.

you can configure this for remote dial in, but i think its only for the serial port not lan.

Re: Remote console on K-class server

Let me explain the K-class and the consoles. There is no GSP, just simple processor ROM code that only talks when the keyswitch is all the way to the right in the SERVICE position. The 'real' console is a serial port on the Core I/O board. There is also a remote console, designed to use a modem. DON'T use it! It has virtually no useful security and was designed more than 10 years ago when security wasn't as much of a problem. Enabling the remote console port asnd attaching a modem is iviting anyone in the world to hit your machine.

You don't have choice about enabling your console to be accessed over the network. The Web Console is a possibility, but I assume that this is a remote site with no operators and you need to have real console access for reboot control. That probably meaans that there are other devices (routers, firewalls, VPN appliances, etc), all with serial consoles. I would strongly recommend the use of a serial console concentrator from someplace like Cyclades or Raritan (or others).

OTE: many suppliers will talk about KVM consoles--these have nothing to do with serial consoles. Be sure you get a true serial port console concentrator. With this box, you can use SSH or telnet to talk to any of the attached console ports and some even have a secure modem connection as a fallback.

Re: Remote console on K-class server

Hi Santosh

Go to CM prompt by CTRL+B

CM> ER to enable remote console

CM>CO to return to console

You have to ensure that all CM commands are enabled ,if not you may enable them.
