Rp7420

Hello, we are setting up a DR plan for our HP9000 servers. We seem to have hit a snag and cannot seem to find out the replacement and original part numbers for the A6437A 1GHz processor that resides in the server. Our HP CE has come up with the same problem. Any ideas out there?

Re: Rp7420

All current and past servers back to D class should be locatable at this site:

http://partsurfer.hp.com

Click HP-9000 servers and search by part number.

BTW, you don't have to have the same class of server to restore to anyway.

We're going to the HP Performance Center in Downers Grove on Monday to test our tapes and DR scenarios on an A class. The tapes were made on L Class boxes.

Contact Your HP Rep, they can arrange this for You as well.

Re: Rp7420

The processor(s) part number for the rp7420 at 1GHz is the A6437A. That is the original part number. Since we just announce the rp7420 on February 20th, you really got one fast. Are you sure you have the right system id?

Re: Rp7420

Tried partsurfer and the 5 x 5 part number is not listed nor any other number for the processor part.

Re: Rp7420

Robert, thanks for the info but those part numbers relate to the cellboard which is what the processors fit into (or so I am told)

Re: Rp7420

Paul,

I believe the new RP7420/RP8420 systems are going to have the same processor replacement procedures as the RX7620/RX8620.
If a processor is bad the entire cell including the processors will be replaced.
A6437A is the product number for a new processor and that is how it would be ordered. The replacement part number will be for the cell and processors, which should be A6913-69007 for the 1 GHz processors.
Hope this helps,

Re: Rp7420

Bill,

Not to dispute you, but that wouldn't make sense, since Cells can be ordered with from 1 to 4 dual CPU Modules. I know they won't be hardwired in, so I would guess that partsurfer just hasn't been updated yet.

If you need to know, you could look on the processor module itself for the part number sticker.
