SCSI Path and card loaction V2500 Server

Hello,

I have a DLT8000 Tape unit connected to a V2500
The path is as follows 6/0/0.4.0:1.Could any
be able to tell me which PCI carge and location the card is in.I have a diagram of the server but can not be sure which card cage
it is and slot location.Do you have any doc's
on this.

Thanks

Re: SCSI Path and card loaction V2500 Server

Hi PJ,

Not 100% positive as I don't have any V2500s anymore - but I seem to remember that the cage HW paths go 2 - 4 - 6 - 8.
So that would infer that it's the 3rd cage or cage #2 as I believe they started at 0.
Then I think it would be the 5th slot - again the slots start at 0 O think.
But I wonder why you can't just trace the cable back? The onboard tape drive is a DDS3 not a DLT. So I'd guess this is an external drive.

HTH,
Jeff

Hi,

The manual for V2500 is available at:
http://docs.hp.com/en/A5532-90001/A5532-90001.pdf

It shows the card cage on p.13.

Re: SCSI Path and card loaction V2500 Server

Hello,

Tracing cables under the floor is not the problem. We strict regulation why we have to lift floor tiles up.The Customer expects us to know by the path to which slot in which cage the card is.This makes more since then
we can replace the cable as we need a Change control as the server is up live. Thanks for
all your help.
