SEA : "Search Terminated"

Hi experts,
I try to boot from the recovery cdrom on an rp2470.
I press a key within 10 seconds, and type SEA to find witch P? is the cdrom-device.
The normal output appears:
Searching for potential boot device.
This may take several minutes.

After a few seconds the system reacts with
Search terminated
and I get the menu back

So I do not know from witch device to boot.
Thanks
Donald

Re: SEA : "Search Terminated"

hi,

try SEA IPL (for bootable devices) and if it still terminates, ensure that SCSI cables, connectors and terminators are all checked and properly attached.

SEA IPL gives the same result.
The scsi cables are right connected.

Re: SEA : "Search Terminated"

I am not sure but it must be able to scan for scsi devices in the information menu or in the service menu. Try to figure out then the hardware path from your cdrom an boot then with the hardware path of your cdrom device.

Re: SEA : "Search Terminated"

hi

check the console settings, this is what will be causing it to terminate.

You probably have one of the settings set to continue ie smooth scroll. When the console attempts to list the first bootable device the console kicks in to fit it on the screen, this causes it to terminate.

And you can search from the main menu and the information menu.

Re: SEA : "Search Terminated"

the combination of the terminal setting (smooth control) and touching the scsicables made the SEA work again.
