Serial Number and manufacture dates relationship

I know that within the serial number of the HP desktop units is encoded the manufacture date. I need to know how to read this for the Vectra VL400 and VL420 units. We currently have 300+ of these and I need to determine which are the oldest, and send them to surplus, so we can rollout the D530's.
Thanks.

Re: Serial Number and manufacture dates relationship

Hi,

I only know the serial number format of HP-UX 9000 servers - which is this forum about, you might post your question into the general section -, which is something like

CCCYYxxxxx

where CCC is country code (letters), e.g. "USS", "DEH", "GBM" ,etc... .YY is year of manufaturing -1960, e.g. USS40xxxxx is made in year 40+1960=2000. The remaining code xxxxx is something else.
However, I think the Vectar serial number format is different...

Regards.
