Sunset dates on K460 and K580

Does anyone have the link that shows the end-of-life support for these 9000 servers.

As far as I know these babies are still supported, but you will be paying a premium. These dinosaurs (I still have four of them) I intend to remove before Christmas just for the shear cost of maintenance and power usage.

have a look at this table

End-of-support is actually several questions. For hardware support, HP still provides parts and probably will for many years (see http:;//partsurfer.hp.com). For hardware service contracts, this is can be a local office decision (call your HP sales office). For software (HP-UX), all supported releases (11.00 and 11.11) for PA-RISC system are supported on the K460 and K580 including 64-bit kernels. Whether the next version of HP-UX will support these boxes is not yet available, but 11.11 will be supported for several more years.

Note that power consumption and air conditioning requirements are enormous for the performance level that the K-boxes have. You are now at a point where a used N4000 or even A500's can replace the K's at 1/10th the cost to keep them turned on. 10 racks of K-boxes can be replaced with one rack of A500's and floor space can often be very expensive in a small data center.

Re: Sunset dates on K460 and K580

In addition to the posts here, end of life is tracked by product number rather than class machine.

For instance the A3426A (K460) has an end of life date of 30-jun-2007 and the A4870A (K580) has a date of 31-dec-2009.

As Bill said these dates can be extended depending on contract.
