Thanks,

Sally,

Did you make any hardware changes?

Re: System Alert on bootup

No, I didn't...and the client says he didn't do anything but change it IP address. Is there something in that error that would point to a hardware address? There seem to be those two addresses but I have no idea how to tell from them where they are in the system.

Re: System Alert on bootup

My first guess would a bad interface or boot disk hence the I/O error.

Re: System Alert on bootup

I did forget to mention that the system does boot up and there are no noticeable problems. However, the boot disk is mirrored so perhaps it could be one of the disks. Is there a way to tell what piece of hardware it is from the addresses?

Thank you,
Sally

Re: System Alert on bootup

Hi SAlly,

The alert being displyed on the console is coming from the GSP. You can view the complete log in the GSP. Go to GSP console and type CL to check the console log. You can modify the alert level notification on the console by typing AC at the GSP prompt.

Hope this helps.

Re: System Alert on bootup

Yes I did get the error from the GSP logs. But I still have to figure out why I get the error at all and where it is coming from.

Re: System Alert on bootup

Your best bet might be to open a hardware call with HP support. They will have all the gsp codes available to them and will be able to quickly identfy the problem. ( At least quicker then me.)

Re: System Alert on bootup

Sally,
To give you an idea what happened: One of your lower bus adaptors bit the dust. (or you have 11i installed and switched it off)
You better contact your HW support
There is no good troubleshooting with bad data

Re: System Alert on bootup

Patrick,

I do have 11i installed. How would it have been switched off?

Thank you,
Sally
