SolutionNot 100% sure I understand what you're asking, but we use the ethernet port on the MP card in order to access the console directly. Some benefits are that you can place it on a separate network. You can telnet directly into the console from anywhere on your network, etc...

Thanks, everybody. It looks like the main advantage of that is when you need to do admin stuff from another location (when the server's in the basement).
In my case, it's right here in the lab, so it looks like I can do everything with a telnet (or better, Hummingbird) connection.
