You should open a case at HP support.

Re: System took an unexpected Reboot See Error log below:

The 2 entries with

Alert Level: 12 = Software failure

indicate that the machine panic'ed. HP-UX hit a serious enough error condition that made the machine go down. Panics should result in a memory dump collected to /var/adm/crash/ that HP can analyze.

Also try the GSP "CL" command to review the console log. See if details from the actual panic were captured there.

Panics could mean:
- software bug: need a patch
- hardware /firmware problem: need service

Re: System took an unexpected Reboot See Error log below:

The Alert Level 12 message probably indicates a software panic.

Take a look at the file /etc/shutdownlog upon reboot and /var/adm/crash and see if you have a dump .

If so you need to process the dump using the instuctions for Q4.

After that open an HP support case and they will be able to assist you.

Re: System took an unexpected Reboot See Error log below:

Hi Robert,

you should do at least two things:

1) install current L2000 firmware.
The firmware is available from ITRC as patches
PF_CRHW4428 HP 9000 rp5400 (L1000) and rp5450 (L2000) firmware 44.28
or
PHSS_31800 s700_800 11.00 rp5400 (L1000) and rp5450 (L2000) 44.28 PDC
or
PHSS_31801 s700_800 11.11 rp5400 (L1000) and rp5450 (L2000) 44.28 PDC

2) install current Online Diagnostics. It is available from from:
http://www.software.hp.com/portal/swdepot/displayProductInfo.do?productNumber=B6191AAE
and patch for Online Diagnostics subsystem:
PHSS_30890 s700_800 11.00 Support Tool Manager Mar 2004 Patch
or
PHSS_31986 11.11 Support Tool Manager Jun 2004 Patch

Re: System took an unexpected Reboot See Error log below:

It seems you have installed Support Tools Manager September 2003
and PHSS_29563 1.0 Support Tool Manager Sep 2003 Patch.
You should first upgrade base product to version June 2004.
You can download it from:
http://www.software.hp.com/portal/swdepot/displayProductInfo.do?productNumber=B6191AAE
Next you should install patch
PHSS_31986 11.11 Support Tool Manager Jun 2004 Patch
