TC (toc) question

If I need to TC the box, does the key need to be in "service" position? If I turn the key from run to service, will that have an effect on the box?
I'm ok

Re: TC (toc) question

No, there is no effect in turning the key to the service position, this simply then allows you to interrupt on the console using CTRL-B so you can TOC or RS (Reset) it.

Re: TC (toc) question

Hi,

Yes. Not merely for TC but to gain the console access to the box with ctrl-B, you will need to put the switch in service position on K-class servers.

Re: TC (toc) question

There are 2 ways to TOC a box:

- remotely, via remote console, and the TC command, this requires 'service mode' for remote console access

- in person, via the tiny button on the rear of most machines. Service mode is not requried for this TOC.
