Temp check from console

Hi

Do you know how to check temperature etc from GSP/MP on HP hosts?

We have a lot of temp alarms from 1 of our data centers.

Thanks
Mark

Thanks - this has been passed over to HP support now.

Re: Temp check from console

You don't need to know the exact temperature. If you get an alarm, you can safely assume that all your computers (and disks and tape drives and network appliances, etc) are all at extreme risk. While there might be some defective sensors, you would be well advised to get to the data center immediately and fix the over-temperature conditions. Most computers will generate alarms when the inlet temperature is about 95-100 Deg F (35-38 C) and this is the point where damage will begin, irreversible and insidious damage that is very difficult to find and fix.

Now if the room temperature is reasonable (68-75 F, 20-24 C), then you may have a bad fan but since you said there were a lot of alarms, I would assume that there is a fire at the data center and immediate attention is needed before damage occurs. I have had to repair thousands of dollars of servers that overheated because the air conditioning was inadequate.

Now if just a single system is reporting the alarm, the server may have a piece of paper stuck in front of a fan (which is bad). It still needs immediate (onsite) attention.

Re: Temp check from console

Thanks Bill

The Aircon failed last night. Only one box (SD) has a problem now.
