The attention light

Hi everyone

General question

Who checks the attention light in their environment ?

What critical information is picked up in the gsp logs that are not picked up by esm ?

Any other thoughts/feelings

Thanks in advance

Steve

Re: The attention light

Hi,
we do check the LEDs as an indicator of a potential problem.
I find the gsp logs a bit difficult to read and interpret. Seems there a lot of general or generic error style messages.

Re: The attention light

Hi Steve,

LED's check
Daily by operators + weekly by a sysadmin.

Believe only info which cannot be pickup by HPUX anymore (HPMC) before a crash.

Hope this helps,

Re: The attention light

There are too many systems (100's) here to do this on a regular basis. That'd be a full time job for a whole team of people. We depend on EMS and OV to manage this system. Every system in the data center is flashing its attention light, and this is not likely to change.

Re: The attention light

We check them whenever we are in the computer room.

Usually after a reboot we have to check it and then clear it. 3rd party memory seems to trigger the attention light to go on.
