UPS on RP5470
I am trying to setup an old server RP5470 with a UPS PowerTrust. I've done this before, but forgot how to do it. Seems like the inittab is wrong. I added a ups with sam and it used /dev/tty0p4. When I changed /etc/inittab line with "ups0" from "off" to "respawn", the system began producing errors, "/usr/lbin/ups_mond[1818]: /usr/lbin/ups_mond: UPS /dev/tty0p4 read failed: File exists; Uninterruptable Power Supply has not been connected correctly; loss of power would not be detectible"
Thanks in advance.

Re: UPS on RP5470
Some need special software and don't work with ups_mond!!!
Depending on the GSP model used in the server you probably need some patches to get the correct special device files for the UPS connection too!
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: UPS on RP5470
The UPS is model A2997A. How do I determine GSP model?
Thanks. Steve

Re: UPS on RP5470
This server is no longer under a support contract. Will I still be able to get the patches I need from HP?
Thanks. Steve

You need a software support contract to download patches for HP-UX.

Re: UPS on RP5470
That's what I was afraid of. Is it possible I may not need patches? This server used to have an APC ups on it. That line (APCd) is commented out. Are there other lines that need to be commented out that are causing the error in my original post, (a1 or a0)?
Thanks. Steve
