URGENT: System not booting

L2000 running HPUX 11.11; system won't go into self test when initially booting. Suggestions besides calling maintenance?

Re: URGENT: System not booting

Joe,
assume nobody has been messing with setboot.
Check the fans/power supply etc. lights.
Anything in the GSP/MP logs ?

Why was the machine shut down ?

Re: URGENT: System not booting

system was rebooted after putting new /usr/lib/tztab into place.

When rebooting, system doesn't even go into self testing, just hangs.

Re: URGENT: System not booting

can you get a prompt by pressing ctrl-B ? If you can, run the SL command and post the results if possible.

Usually when an L-class won't POST, there is either a failed CPU, power/environment issue, or sometimes a PCI card that is not seated.

Re: URGENT: System not booting

reset the GSP which fixed the boot problem. Now to get the DST issue resolved...

Re: URGENT: System not booting

Joe,
resetting the GSP does not sound like the only fix to the system not starting. Was there anything in the GSP log files?
