Upon reboot of L2000 log shows processor 0 "Stopped:Nonresponding"

Does anyone have a solution to activate processor 0 after a reboot? The CoProcessor State is listed as "Unkown". The box has two processors. Processor 3 did successfully activate.

Any help will be much appreciated!

It sounds to me like the processor has gone bad. "Stopped:Nonresponding" sounds as if the machine tried to talk to the processor but could not.

If you have a hardware contract on this machine I would place a call to your local HP Response Center and open a hardware call on this machine ASAP!!!

You could try going into the BCH and see if you can reactivate the processor, but I kind of doubt that will work.

You box will perform like a pig if its under any kind of load factor at all.

You can get a pretty good diagnosis in the following ways:

1) cstm,mstm,xstm test the procesor, you will only see one present.
2) Recent versions of top will show how many cpus are present
3) Glance will show how many working cpu's are present.
4) GSP has a definitive display for showing processor state.
5) Booting the box will probably show on the console how many processors are still working.

Replacing the CPU is pretty trivial. I have a hardware contract, but watches last time. You pull the box out of the rack, powered down, take off the top plate and the CPU is held down by four screws.

Its at least six inches tall, most of that is heat synch.

If this system does any kind of meaningful work its important you make arrangements to replace the chip immediately.

I would suggest that just contact local HP guys immidietly.

Is this a new deployment? Either way your processor is reporting bad. The possibility of reseating the processor and cleaning the contacts is an option for trained personel for new installations. If the server has been running and now experienced porblem it's likely the processor has failed. Best option is to call HP.
