What GPS Firmware version is new A.01.09 or B.02.07?

Hi gurus.

Recently, The sever give a event #32, I followed the instruction to solve the problem. All works fine..

BUT, One recomendation said "in the GSP execute HE command, If the service processor firmware version is less than A.01.09 let's update..."

Can you tell me, what version is new? The He command show:
Hardware revision L5 Firmware Revision B.02.07 Oct 17 2001.

IS the A.01.09 newer or older then B.02.07?

Thanks

A is older than B.

Re: What GPS Firmware version is new A.01.09 or B.02.07?

HP uses alpha-numeric in ascending order relationships with most of their part and product versions:
(eg. A.01.09 is older than A.01.10;
hence, A.01.09 is older than B.02.07).

Hope this helps,

Oky, then I don't need to upgrade the firmware.

Thanks a lot.

You may have the wrong GSP card.

Have hardware check, they look alike, but those revision numbers indicate to me that you may have a different card. It may be compatible, it may not, but I'm not sure.

The A revision is usually for one class of server like L2000, the B revision may be for the L3000, but thats relying on my memory which is six months old.

In my case we spotted a B revision card and didn't install it because my hardware guy thought it was an L3000 card. Which it was.

Re: What GPS Firmware version is new A.01.09 or B.02.07?

The letter code (A or B and probably C) refers to the actual GSP hardware which is different in some machines. The B version is found in newer boxes and the different letter codes are not compatible. If you look at the GSP firmware rev on your box, the first letter will be the board type and you need to stick with the versions that start with that rev. I believe that the different GSP board designs will not accept the wrong firmware but just to avoid a service call and downtime, always load the same letter code firmware.

Re: What GPS Firmware version is new A.01.09 or B.02.07?

The latest version for the A-version of the GSP is A.01.12 and is labeled: PF_CPREGSPA0112. You can find all the available firmware here:

http://www1.itrc.hp.com/service/patch/search.do?pageContextName=firmware:&BC=patch.breadcrumb.main|patch.breadcrumb.pdb|

NOTE: The A-revision patches are for A-version GSP systems. There was a new hardware design (version B) for the GSP that requires a B-revision firmware. A nd B are not interchangeable. The firmware link above will return only the latest revision.
