When to use GSP reset button
I have an N class system that has a flashing ATTN LED. The console port does
not work. We are able to rlogin into the system but not via the console. Will
pressing the GSP reset button clear the console and yellow flashing ATTN LED?

Re: When to use GSP reset button
Try the following steps
1.connect the console to the console port and power on the console, give
the power supply to the server
(not require to switch on the server)Since GSP will
be on even server is not switched on by the front panel power switch,it
is not required.
2. press CTRL+B on the console keyboard ,you may get
the GSP login prompt. Press enter & enter get in to
GSP.
3. Give HE to get list of commands & configure the
serial interfaces,remote console& lan console.
NOw you may able to get the console display on which you configured.
II. The attention LED flashing may be due to the
power supply removed from the Rack during the last shutdown.Don't remove or
switch off the power to the
rack,should be on always.
The flashing can be stopped by acknowledging the
error log in the GSP as follows
1.Get in to GSP
GSP>sl
GSP> E
GSP >N
see the error logs
if log says
Power supply failure, this is due to the above reason.

Re: When to use GSP reset button
Good News !! -- For Reference --
For a HP 9000 N-box with a CORE I/O board A3639-60001:
Whenever the console port locks up, you can safely press the GSP reset button
[located next to the Ultra2 SCSI port, Path:0/0/1/0] without rebooting the
system.
This cleared my locked console.
