Where to find HP Support Documents (Customer Advisory)?

Where to find HP Support Documents (Customer Advisory)?

Our operation is 24/365. We currently have one shutdown every 2 years. Recently, at our last shutdown, when we tried to bring up our main server (rp2405), it crashed reporting a fan failure. When the engineer came out, he said it probably wasn't a fan failure, but a fan signal failure. He fitted a component in line with the fan cable and hey presto, it worked. He said this was a known fault.

What I want to do is to find a list of all known faults for my hardware. I am currently getting customer advisories e-mailed to me, e.g. http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=c00519570&jumpid=em_EL_Alerts/US/Apr06_ALL/Alerts

These seem like exactly the sort of thing that I'm interested in. Is there somewhere on the HP website where I can browse these customer advisories?

Thanks,

Gary Cooper

Gary,

Have you tried this link:
http://www1.itrc.hp.com/service/home/hpMaint.do off the main ITRC page?

Couldn't see what I needed there.

Re: Where to find HP Support Documents (Customer Advisory)?

Sorry, Gary, my bad. I reread your post and saw that you were getting emails already.

I'm not sure if this is what you had in mind, but this link to "Recent driver & support alerts : servers"
http://h30046.www3.hp.com/subscribe/recent_drivers/?cat=Servers

has a dropdown under Select a product family that reflects what you selected in the "Select driver and support category" above that.

View all previously published HP ITRC Security Bulletins, i.e., the security bulletin archive (IT Resource Center registration required): http://h30046.www3.hp.com/subJumpITRC.php?wpaPath=/service/cki/secBullArchive.do

These seem to be more software-oriented, but may have some specific to the hardware. Though since the rp2405 reached it's official end of life last year, I'm not sure offhand how this will impact future advisory releases.

You can sign up to receive alerts here:

https://h30046.www3.hp.com/subprofile.php?SUBS=DRIVERSIGNUP&regioncode=NA&langcode=USENG&jumpid=in_sc-gen-driver_go/myadvisory

Hope this helps!

Re: Where to find HP Support Documents (Customer Advisory)?

Bryan - that first link was almost exactly what I was looking for, but I want to find all advisories, not just those for the last 60 days.

Torsten - I'm already signed up to receive alerts. It's old ones that I want to check out.

Thanks,

Gary

Re: Where to find HP Support Documents (Customer Advisory)?

Gary,

This link has, I believe, all security bulletin archives back to 1993 (but was revised in 2002).
http://h30046.www3.hp.com/subJumpITRC.php?wpaPath=/service/cki/secBullArchive.do

The security bulletin archive is broken down into the following sections:
GN = HP General SW
NS = HP NonStop Servers
TL = HP Trusted Linux
MA = HP Management Agents
OV = HP OpenVMS
TU = HP Tru64 UNIX
MI = Misc. 3rd party SW
PI = HP Printing & Imaging
UX = HP-UX UNIX
MP = HP MPE/iX
ST = HP Storage SW
VV = HP Virtualvault

This might not be exactly what you want, but you may want to take a quick peek.

Hope this helps!

Re: Where to find HP Support Documents (Customer Advisory)?

I think you can probably disregard my previous post...I copied the link from another page that apparently redirects that link to this page:
http://www2.itrc.hp.com/service/cki/secBullArchive.do

Here's an example of the 1993 post that was revised as of 2003:
--------------------
Submitted Date: 11/30/93
Title: HPSBUX9312-002 Security Vulnerability in Xterm (rev.2)
Document ID: HPSBUX9312-002
Last Modified Date: 1/9/03

TEXT

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
**REVISED 02**
Source: HEWLETT-PACKARD COMPANY
SECURITY BULLETIN: HPSBUX9311-002
Originally issued: 30 November 1993
Last Revised: 18 December 2002
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

_______________________________________________________________________
PROBLEM: Security vulnerability in xterm in all releases of HP-UX
PLATFORM: HP 9000 series 300/400s and 700/800s
DAMAGE: A vulnerability in the logging function of xterm exists
if the xterm operates as a setuid or setgid process.
The vulnerability allows local users to create files or
modify any existing files.
SOLUTION: Apply patch PHSS_3399 (series 700/800, HP-UX 9.x), or
PHNE_3408 (series 700 , HP-UX 8.x), or
PHNE_3409 (series 800 , HP-UX 8.x), or
PHSS_3410 (series 300/400, HP-UX 9.x), or
PHSS_3411 (series 300/400, HP-UX 8.x), or
remove the setuid permissions from xterm (releases of HP-UX
prior to 8.0)
Note: Removing the setuid permissions may create another
vulnerability. The only solution without known
or suspected vulnerabilities is to install the patch.
**REVISED 02**
MANUAL ACTIONS: No

AVAILABILITY: PHSS_3399 and PHSS_3410 are available now. The other
patches are estimated to be available by 07 December.

CHANGE SUMMARY: Revision 02 add MANUAL ACTIONS field

If you've already seen this page and it wasn't what you were looking for then I apologize for the redundancy.

Re: Where to find HP Support Documents (Customer Advisory)?

Bryan,

I'm not really intersted in the security bulletins, it's the hardware-related customer advisories that I'm after.

Thanks,
