Zebra T402 -Printer Set up problem on HP-Unix

Hi,
I am not able to setup the Zebra printer on HP-Unix to print the labels.
Printer is not responding. I am using JetDirect 300X print server connected Parellel port. The queue is cleared from unix. (I tried both Network/remote printer option using SAM)

$lp -d lj4 ok
request id is lj4-4 (1 file)
$lpstat lj4

printer queue for lj4
JetDirect lpd: no jobs queued on this port

orchid: lj4: ready and waiting
no entries
$

Can anybody help ???

Re: Zebra T402 -Printer Set up problem on HP-Unix

Hi,

Can you ping the IP of the print server?
Can you resolve the hostname if you're using that?
Do you know queuenmame on the print server?
Did you use that with the remote printer setup?

HTH,
Jeff

Re: Zebra T402 -Printer Set up problem on HP-Unix

Hi,
Thanks for the response.
The problem is resolved, it was printing outside the label-area, I tried shifting the print position, it worked.

Now I am trying to increase the height of barcode...

Re: Zebra T402 -Printer Set up problem on HP-Unix

Just a note: ALWAYS use the network printer option in SAM. The remote option is the dumb interface which can be a problem to troubleshoot. remote means: remote print server such as WinNT or Linux, etc. The network connection uses HP's proprietary port 9100 for communication and interacts with the JetDirect box at an intelligent level. Another useful command is hpnpadmin which can return a lot of info about the printer connection. hpnpadmin has a man page and is found in the /opt/hpnpl/bin diretory.
