add a new disk to hp9k server

I add a new hot swapable disk to a D220 server with OS 10.20. I run "insf -e" to install device file, then run "ioscan -funC disk". I did not see the new disk. I even reboot the system and interrup in 10 seconds to see the new disk via "sea" command. I still can not see the new disk.
Any idea?

Thanks for any help...

Re: add a new disk to hp9k server

How many disks were already installed in that machine? The D220 can only support 2 disks in its hot-swap bay in the top 2 slots. If you added a new disk in any other slot then it will NOT work.

Re: add a new disk to hp9k server

Patrick,
Thank you for reply. Yep, there are already 2 disks on top 2 slots. I tried to add 3rd one on the top 3rd slot. So for D220, we won't be able to use more than 2 internal disks.

If you want verification -- open the door for the hot swap bay, get a flashlight, and look at the board at the back of the bay. YOu should see that there is nothing for the pins on the back of the drive to plug into.

Hi Tammy,

Plus you have the order backwards there.
Run
ioscan -fnC disk
first - then run
insf
note the -e is not necessary.
