bad cell board

How do I check a bad cell board on 9000/800/rp8420.

Thanks and regards
Prashant

Re: bad cell board

CPU Memory Use
OK/ (GB) Core On
Hardware Actual Deconf/ OK/ Cell Next Par
Location Usage Max Deconf Connected To Capable Boot Num
========== ============ ======= ========= =================== ======= ==== ===
cab0,cell0 active core 6/2/8 16.0/ 0.0 cab0,bay0,chassis0 yes yes 0
cab0,cell1 active core 6/2/8 11.0/ 0.0 cab0,bay0,chassis1 yes yes 1
cab0,cell2 active base 6/2/8 11.0/ 0.0 - no yes 1
cab0,cell3 absent - - - - - -

What the above output means. Absent is nothing there. What is the other one, cab0 cell2 active base...

Thanks
Prashant

Re: bad cell board

I've attached a better formatted version of the table.

This looks fairly normal, except that 2 CPUs are deconfigured in each cell. Only cells that are connected to an I/O chassis are 'core' capable; one core capable cell is required in every partition.

Hardware Location - which cab(inet) and cell each line refers to.
Actual usage - core = cell attached to I/O chassis. base = any other cell included in a partition.
CPU OK/Deconf(igured)/Max(imum) - self-explanitory.
Memory - self-explanitory
Connected to - which I/O chassis the cell is connected to.
core cell capable - see above
use on next boot - self-explanatory
par(tition) num(ber) - which partition the cell is assigned to.

Re: bad cell board

does this mean, cell2 is with partition 2.

And why there is a - below connected to line.

Does this mean same as above.

Re: bad cell board

Cell 2 is assigned to partition 1, along with cell 1.

Cells 2 & 3 in the rp8420 are not connected to any I/O chassis, thus the dash/hyphen in that column.

Re: bad cell board

I check cstm and select cell as device, would that give appropriate info which I take for granted that there is nothing is wrong in cell board.

Re: bad cell board

If cstm shows a cell as OK, then unless you are seeing another indication, I would assume that it's correct.
