I have a a400 model HPUX and I would like to re-install 11.00. When it install completed, it cannot boot up and show the following error.
Trying boot path
Booting
Boot IO Dependent Code (IODC) revision 1
HARD Booted.
ISL Revision A.00.28
ISL booting hpux
Boot
: disk(0/0/1/1.15.0.0.0.0.0;0)/stand/vmunix
ERROR: An attempt was made to launch a 32-bit kernel on a system that does not support 32-bit kenrels.

hi simon,
Are you sure you are booting from the same
disk on which the O.S. is installed ?
If yes then i will suggest to re-install the O.S. & select 64bit instead 32bit this time.
Hope you are doing a advance installation where you have an option to select this.

An A400 only supports a 64-bit kernel. It sounds as if you somehow managed to load 32-bit HP-UX on this machine, which will definintely not work.
You need to start from scratch and make sure that the 64-bit HP-UX is selected when you do the install.

Hi,
Have a look at the link the following
http://devrsrc1.external.hp.com/STK/serversupport.html
As you see, A400 is supported 64BIT (ONLY)
re-install 11.0/64bit with correct Media.
