hardware certification

What kind of certification is need to work on HP 9000 Server hardware. Is there a general HP hardware certification, or do you need individule certifications on each piece of hardware.

Re: hardware certification

There is no public facing certification path for HPUX 9000 Hardware repair/troubleshooting certification. I know the HP CE's have training courses, and I believe they get tested on it, but customers don't seem to have that option.

Re: hardware certification

hi robert,

It depends upon the size of 9000 really, there are many different servers/workstation that come under the broad umbrella.

There is no individual hp 9000 courses, apart from the superdome side. Of course HP train there own engineers and there are other training companies that do offer training on the 9000's. Alot of people use the knowledge gathered over many years of using the systems, service manuals and places like this forum.

However if you want to really do it properly the best way is to become a HP CSE, this takes you to the engineering side more. You have to do a number of HPUX courses before you can do this though. This is because HPUX is used alot now to find out problems associated with the hardware and deal with failures and how to spot them, along with the use of the diagnostic bundles.

Info on the hp training courses can be found here
