how do I connect a PC to a rp3440 as console

Hello out there, I have a basic question :-)
I studied the installation guide but I don't get enough information.

Hardware: rp3440, no console, no lan on mp.
I want to use my PC as console on the rp3440:
connector on rp3440?
cable?
connector on PC?
Application on PC?
Settings for this Application?

Hi there.
You should have a serial interface for a console on the back of your system.
There you can connect a dumb terminal or a pc with a terminal software ( AFAIK ).
Serial interface = RS232 9pin or 25pin
mostly used for external modems etc.

Thanks, that's about what I found in the Installation guide. But there are still some points open:

connector on rp3440 --> console or serial A?
cable --> straight or nullmodem?
connector on PC --> RS232
Application on PC --> Hyperterminal?

Nullmodem (all the 9pin serial cables I've tried have worked)

the cable seems to be a kind of nullmodem-dialect, at least the one I have now that works (original console cable + gender changer + DSub25-DSub9):

DB9 fem - DB9 fem
1 - 7
2 - 3
3 - 2
4 - 8
5 - 5
6 - empty
7 - 1
8 - 4
9 - empty
