how to determine firmware version on rp8400

Hello,
I am buying an additional cell board for an rp8400 (which currently has 2 cell bds). How do I determine the firware revision of the existing cells (so I can have the new board match those)? Also, do I need to worry about CPU versions? The new cell will have same speed as existing CPUs. thanks

hi dave,

you can check the firmware versions by logging onto the MP

go into the command menu
MP>cm

then type sysrev
MP>CM>sysrev

check this doc for details

Re: how to determine firmware version on rp8400

hi dave,

one more thing i didnt mention.

they do not have to be the same version as they work independently of each other to some degree, but it is recommended.

It is also recommended to have them upto date if possible. If your having a new board fitted then it may be worth doing them all together at the same time to avoid problems.

Also I would recommend you get HP to do it for you, there is alot more to the firmware upgrade than the older servers.
