how to get to GSP module on an hp-ux A-Class server

Hi,

We have got an old A-Class server that I whant to set up, but I can't get into the GSP module with the usual "ctrl+B" keycombination. Is there another way to get into the GSP module on these servers?

I'm connected thru the Console port 8/16/4.0.

regards
Morten

It should be "Ctrl+B". What console are you using?

I'm using hyperterminal on my laptop. I'm using it for other hp-ux servers and it works fine on them.

Did you try regular console?

This how we'll find where the problem is.

Which A class server is this? The A180 does not have a GSP, just a serial console or a web console.

I forgot to tell you that I have contact with the console. I can see the boot session, but I have no bootdisk, so I can't boot yet. I want to set up the LAN console, so that I can get out of this noisy, cold and lonely room.

Re: how to get to GSP module on an hp-ux A-Class server

As mentioned before by Melvyn only the A400/A500 has a GSP. If you have an older model A180(C) there is no GSP, there is a web console only. The web console provides the serial console over a web connection to your browser.

Hope this helps!

Re: how to get to GSP module on an hp-ux A-Class server

Hi Morten,

the console port 8/16/4.0 tells me that you have a A180 server. This server type has no GSP.
But it has an optional access port card in HSC slot 1. If you have this card, then there is a switch on the back of the card to enable the access port which provides modem access to the console and viewing of chassis codes via the console. But the functions of the access port are very limited in contrast to the GSP of the newer A400/A500 (rp24x0) systems.

see the A180 useres manual for more information:

best regards

Hi Melvyn,

your right, it's an A180C. So how do I configure the lanconsole then. Should I look in the submenues of the Main menu, maybe in the configuration or service?
