how to install software on rp8640 server

Insert HPUX CD.

With MP LAN console or serial connected turn on power or reset via MP with RS command.

From BCH, search for devices, select CD drive. Ignite installer will appear. Either follow menus or review installation documentation.

which port on the back should I be connected to? If connected to the mplan which address should my laptop be at?
If I am using serial connected what settings must I have on the xterm session?

Hi,

Follow the procedure,

1. Connect serial cable with MPLAN and Your notebook.
2. run hyper terminal and set it with COM1 setting would be "Restore Default".
3. You will get MP access.
4. Give "Admin/Admin" username and passwd.
5. Then power on the machine with this command " MP:CM> pe" It will ask you for some options, Type T for cabinet.

6. Insert DVD into machine and follow the instruction for HP-UX installation.


One more thing to highlight its not "rp8640" machine it is Itanium based rx"8640".

There is a rp8440 (PA-RISC) and a rx8640 (Integrity), but the procedures are very similar.

Regarding the connection: you should use a null-modem cable to connect your PC to the upper MP cards serial port and use putty emulator (version 0.6) and select serial connection. Default speed is 9600.
