hp 9000 rp4440 dual processors

One one processor on this rp4440 has been activated. The other processor is installed, but not enabled. How do I activate the 2nd processor in this dual processor module that is currently a 1-way configuration?

Re: hp 9000 rp4440 dual processors

That depends. Did you pay for both processors? If it is active on the system, then you should be able to activate it via the GSP.

Otherwise, there may be some icod (instant capacity on demand) issues where you have to pay for the CPU before you can use it.

Re: hp 9000 rp4440 dual processors

hi,

They have dual core processors as standard and it sounds like you bought a system with only one active cpu.

so you will see 1x active and 1x deconfigured at PDC.

To enable it you need to but the cpu upgrade licence from HP or reseller. this is a code word that is added to the system in the service commands at PDC

boot the system to pdc and type ser to go into service menu, then type upgrade. this will then prompt for lic key.

more info can be found and upgrade options in this doc

Re: hp 9000 rp4440 dual processors

hi,

one more thing to try is in configuration menu of PDC

type co to go into config menu

then type

cpu 1 on

to configure cpu no1

this will only work if the system is lic for 2 cpu's though
