hp rp 7400 quad processor

Is there anway short of pulling two processors out of the system to determine what the thru-put would be like if we only ran on two processors. Would the system still function with only 2 processors ?

Re: hp rp 7400 quad processor

You don't need to pull out the CPUs, just go to the boot menu and disable them.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: hp rp 7400 quad processor

Go to the configuration menu:

Main Menu: Enter command or menu > co

and use

CPUconfig [] [ON|OFF] Config/Deconfig processor

Hope this helps!

Re: hp rp 7400 quad processor

What's the configuration menu, when i key in co i get an error telling me there's no input file. Is there any documentation on the CPUconfig command, I've looked thru the thousand or so hp manuals and the hp ux system administration book and can't seem to find a CPUconfig command ?

Re: hp rp 7400 quad processor

You need to stop the boot process within the 10 seconds period.

This will bring you into the boot menu:

Main Menu: Enter command or menu >

Hope this helps!

Here (more or less):

You need to do the following steps:

1. reboot your server
2. stop the boot process

Firmware Version XX.XX

3 440 MHz Idle Functional 512 KB 1 MB
5 440 MHz Idle Functional 512 KB 1 MB
7 440 MHz Idle Functional 512 KB 1 MB

Console path: 0/0/4/0.0
Keyboard path: 0/0/4/0.0

Processor is booting from first available device.
To discontinue, press any key within 10 seconds.

Boot terminated.

3. go to the config menu and deconfigure a CPU, e.g.

cpu 7 off

4. reset your server

Main Menu: Enter command or menu> reset

Hope this helps!
