Re: id number

Stan, remember this is 11.31.

I compared this and it is the same, more or less.

At least on 11.31 it works for PA chips too.

The tools was patched recently to reflect upcoming CPUs.

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Stan, remember this is 11.31.

All 4 versions of machinfo work on our 11.31
Integrity Virtual Machine, including the
not-the-most-recent-but-bigger-and-less-informative version :)

BTW Jon, don't forget to assign points (particularly to Bill's initial answer, I'd think)

Jon: I'd try:

kwdb /stand/vmunix /dev/kmem
print utsname

On our 11.31 system I get:

$1 = {sysname = "HP-UX\000\000\000", nodename = "vanity\000\000",
release = "B.11.31\000", version = "U\000\000\000\000\000\000\000",
machine = "ia64\000\000\000\000", __idnumber = "1295989824\000\000\000\000"}

The __idnumber should match the uname -i value.

Re: id number

I have still tried 3 different itanium machines and when I check the ID number they all start with zero on all of them..I also loaded 11.i ver 3 and 11.i ver 2 and I still get the ID that starts with zero .Thanks for your help but I am going in a different direction .

Re: id number

Hmm, I have 3 machines with the exact same ID and it starts with a zero, 0775917213.

The "machine id number" and "machine serial number" also match.

Oops, I can't explain the zero but the "3 machines" are really vpars on the same box.

Re: id number

Dennis...any chance *all* VPARs systems
have a leading 0 as a feature? That would
explain a lot!

thanks,

Not sure but I have another VPAR where that seems to be the case.
I also had a VM with 3 leading zeroes but 5 others that didn't have any.
