memory compatibility

hi,
a customer has installed memory A6967ax on rp3410 for upgrade to the exisisting memory A6833-60001,after that the serever hanged at HARD BOOTED message when booting.
could the upgrade memory be the reason for the hang?
one more thing, when the server is booted with its original memorey ,the same problem still exists with the following system event alert:

Alert level 7;fatal
keyword;ERR_CHECK_HPMC

thanks,

Re: memory compatibility

Hi,
Time to call your HP engineer. Looks like a H/w fault.

Re: memory compatibility

Static discharge, bent pins, and many other things cold make your memory upgrade not work. However the memory part numbers for the rp3410 are the A9772A and A9773A. Memory from old servers might not be fast enough, but the A6967A appears to be for the rx4640 which uses the same zx1 chipset, so I would be surprised if that is the issue. Sometimes the part number difference is just marketing, but I remember that once, a long time ago, there were form factor differences (height) that actually created an issue.
