nOOb questions : rp3440

Hello forum !

Got some basic questions on the rp3440.

Firtly do all rp3440s leave the factory equipped for 4-way computing ? All the 3440s I have here show two PA 8800 3.1 CPU modules. If it were possible to purchase the key to 'unlock' the additionnal cores/modules I would probably do so...so how do I tell if these servers are rp3440-4 or rp3440-2 ( of such a thing exists ).

Secondly should I stick with HP-UX 11.11 ( a.k.a. 11i v1 ) or move to 11.23 ? Most of what .23 brings seems to bee Itanium/Integrity support...

Thank you for your time !

Ok scratch that first question. I lifted the lid and there is only one CPU module/HSF under the hood ( too bad ).

Second question still holds though.

Hi,

1) the CPUs in this model are always dual core. So if you run
ioscan -fnCprocessor
you should see 2 CPUs.
Just in case you see only 1, you probably need to purchase a special license key to get the second core activated.

2) this is totaly up to your and your application needs

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
