Re: nPar---about the rx7620's internal DVD

To my knowledge, the removable media slot (DDS or DVD) is NOT sharebale between partitions. Older block diagrams show it is connected but it is not able to be shared.

Re: nPar---about the rx7620's internal DVD

i know in the rp84xx/rx86xx the removable DDS/DVD are belong to different partation.

but in the rx7620 box ,there are two IO cables from the two MP crads to connect the only one DVD..

so if it isn't shared ,why the cable form Mp0 to it?

You can't share DVD or tape drive between two different partitions. If you have one partition with latest vpar software and can share between vpars of same partition.

It can be connected to only one of the npars. IO is not shareable between the npars. If you still want to share, I think you should mount it.

Re: nPar---about the rx7620's internal DVD

Hi

I had the same problem on an rx7640 recently. There is a dual-slimline dvd option available for the rx4640 (AD013A), which would use both scsi cables.
Don't know if it's supported on the rx7620 though..

Re: nPar---about the rx7620's internal DVD

Hi,

the picture is taken from the install manual, isn't it?
The manual says "The CD/DVD/DAT drive connects to cell 1 through the core I/O card for cell 1."
This is true for the rx7620 - the drive is not shared.

The rx7640 says the same (curiously), but there are 2 slimline drives, one for each cell (nPar).

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
