new k570 system drive (double check)
I need a new system drive for my k570. I figure a seagate Cheetah 36ES should work.
Thanks,

Re: new k570 system drive (double check)
According to PartSurfer
http://partsurfer.hp.com/cgi-bin/spi/main
it looks like the following Seagate drives should work:
Seagate ST34573WC - 4.2GB Seagate ST39236LC - 9.1GB
I'm not sure if either of those is the one you're referring to but it might point you in the right direction.

Re: new k570 system drive (double check)
I've found that non-HP drives can be problematic as boot disks.
You really need the HP firmware for boot disks.
You can usually use them for data drives, but HP may not support them.

Re: new k570 system drive (double check)
The extra root space would be an upgrade from 10.20 to 11i. Is there a way to tell the upgrade to use a different partitian?
Thanks,

Re: new k570 system drive (double check)
No, not on the same drive. You could put an extra drive in, if you have a slot for it, then install 11.x on that and boot from the 10.20 or 11.x drive as need be.

Re: new k570 system drive (double check)
According to partsurfer, the maximum supported hard disk in a K570 is a 9Gb one.
I would call HP to confirm, though.

Re: new k570 system drive (double check)
SCSI 's are teh most widely interchangeable drives amongst system , genreallly the system(OS) will ahve some simliar disktab entry for using this drive , all what will not work is the predective/ignite and may be booting using this drive , but you cansafely use it as a data disk incase it is not supported by HP UX.
