Re: no core cell while creating a npartition

Hardware Actual Deconf/ OK/ Cell Next Par
Location Usage Max Deconf Connected To Capable Boot Num
========== ============ ======= ========= =================== ======= ==== ===
cab0,cell0 Active Core 4/0/4 8.0/0.0 cab0,bay0,chassis0 yes yes 0
cab0,cell1 Inactive 4/0/4 48.0/0.0 cab0,bay0,chassis1 no - -

This shows cell1 has NO core I/O card and is NOT capapble of creating a partition on it's own
As stated earlier, you weill need to purchase another MP card and insert it into the slot that is vacant at the rear right hand side of the cabinet, where there is already one of these cards.

Contact your local HP Sales Office or the supplier you use

Re: no core cell while creating a npartition

thank you very much

I will get a core io card and try then

mean time I wanted to add the second cell board to the existing partition, but it is saying firmware is different..

current versions are

cell 0 - 3.88
cell 1 - 6.44

where can I get the firmware for this?
I tried to get it from hp site, but its giving onle harddisk firmware for this server..

please also give me the exact procedure to update cell board firmware..

Re: no core cell while creating a npartition

I strongly urge you to contact your local HP Support Office and log a call to get the firmware updated, if you try it by yourself, and something goes wrong, you are in trouble.

Re: no core cell while creating a npartition

It sounds like this system was put together without HP's help. Multi-core servers work very well but *all* the firmware on all the boards must match and ideally be at the most recent level. This can be a long task to perform but then your server will be well suited to handling nPars.

Re: no core cell while creating a npartition

You need one core I/O per nPar.

Hope this helps!
