Re: no core cell while creating a npartition

make sure it has an I/O chassis conected, an dthat you have a core i/o card in slot 0 of that chassis.

Re: no core cell while creating a npartition

Hi

You can think core i/o is onboard I/O. Check this picture for 8620

http://docs.hp.com/en/A7026-96037-en/img/gfx14.gif

The core i/o right side of the server when you look at server from behind.
Core I/O includes on board LAN, on board SCSI etc.

Re: no core cell while creating a npartition

for thios type of server you need a second Management Processor, that will fit into the lower slot on the right hand side as you look at the rear of the server.
You will already have one, you need to order another of those.

This shows cell1 has NO core I/O card and is NOT capapble of creating a partition on it's own
As stated earlier, you weill need to purchase another MP card and insert it into the slot that is vacant at the rear right hand side of the cabinet, where there is already one of these cards.

Contact your local HP Sales Office or the supplier you use

Re: no core cell while creating a npartition

I strongly urge you to contact your local HP Support Office and log a call to get the firmware updated, if you try it by yourself, and something goes wrong, you are in trouble.

Re: no core cell while creating a npartition

It sounds like this system was put together without HP's help. Multi-core servers work very well but *all* the firmware on all the boards must match and ideally be at the most recent level. This can be a long task to perform but then your server will be well suited to handling nPars.

Re: no core cell while creating a npartition

You need one core I/O per nPar.

Hope this helps!
