Re: possible sub from rp5470 to rp7410 server
It would be very dicey I'd say.
The 5470 is not a cell-based system like the 7410.
But it *might* work - I just wouldn't count on it though.
My 2 cents,
Jeff

Re: possible sub from rp5470 to rp7410 server
I agree with Jeff, you could do a ignite restore on a new disk and try.
If you decide to do a restore please update this thread as I'm also interested to know for the upgrades we are going to do.
Thanks in advance

Re: possible sub from rp5470 to rp7410 server
rp7410 is npar/vpar capable.
Thus I belive HWE bundle ( for HP-UX 11.11 ) become important factor.
Hence you need to ensure the compatibility in terms of HP-UX , Ignite-UX and HWE versions.
Refer following document .

Re: possible sub from rp5470 to rp7410 server
Minor quibble...the rp5470 is indeed vPar capable.
It's the smallest HP PA-RISC system that is.
Of course, not being a cell-based system it is *not* nPar capable.

Jeff

Re: possible sub from rp5470 to rp7410 server
rp5470 is a vpar capable server.
Jeff,
Do you know the HP URL where one can get a consolidated list of vpar and npar capable servers ?
Ed,
Here is one more document which says to maintain the Ignite-UX compatibility for the possible restore across these servers.

Re: possible sub from rp5470 to rp7410 server
No - I can't seem to find a single URL with that info.
But I do know that vPars are supported on everything bigger/newer than the L3000/rp5470 with the possible exceptions of the new *small* systems like the rx16xx/rx26xx.
That would include all N-class systems as well as all cell based systems like the rp7405 & larger.
And of course nPars are only supported on cell based systems - rp7405 & higher.
Rgds,
Jeff
