procesor dependent code doesn't run

Hi,
I just received a L2000 server and powered it up, however the processor dependent code and bch do not start up. I can log into the gsp. What causes the pdc not to run? any possible hardware damage? thanks.

Have you tried resetting the gsp to the factory default configuration.

What errors are you getting? if it's powered up, and there's a HW problem, then you should receive a system alert. also, try typing the VFP command at the GSP prompt, this will enable you to see the Power-On-Self-Test readout. Is the diplay hanging during this readout for longer than 5 minutes?

also, you will need to exit the GSP via the 'CO' command, (to get to console) so that the BCH can be seen. Some systems may take 20 minutes or longer to go through the self-tests.

When I run run vfp I get the following output:

LEDS: attention-flash power-on the rest off

platform operation 6203


...and it hangs there.
also it also appears to be hanging when I try to reset the gsp.

What happens when you type 'co' at the GSP prompt? hit return a couple of times and you should get a prompt.

What are you using for a console?

The terminal is a 700/96 series (C1064W). I don't think the console is the problem, because I booted up a second L2000 with this console with no problems after the first one.
When I hit co from the gsp I just hang

Try powering off the system and unplugging it for a couple of minutes, and then plug it in and power it on, making sure it really powers on by removing the front cover and pressing in the little square power button for a couple of seconds.

also, make sure the console is connected and powered up for the Power-on sequence. Don't go into the GSP. the virtual front panel should start on its own, and show the selftest codes.
