both the rp3440 and rp4440 are using the same type of 1GB and 2GB DIMMs.

Memory from the RP4440 will fit in the RP3440 but the other way around only works depending on the height of the modules.
The RP4440 has a height restriction due to the cover whereas the RP3440 doesn't have that.
But in this case it should work.

Remember to always put the largest dimm in the first slot and work your way backwards in size, so that your last slot has the smallest dimm.
