rp2450 LAN / Secure Web console

I'm stuck. Can you point me in the right direction?

We have an rp2450 (A) server. I'm tring to get connected to the WEB Console and can't.
I can get to the GSP to verify the IP,Mask, and Gateway from the connsole terminal. I can ping the IP from other servers. All of these server are on the same subnet.

Maybe I am confused on the LAN Console and the Secure WEB Console. Both have network cables connected to the network. The Secure WEB console PCI card has this 9 pin cable coming out of it the is connect to the Console pig tail coming out of the Console/UPS 25 pin connecter.
I have checked the GSP to verify things are enabled and IPs are correct.

So I can not connect to this server using a growser. I also have an rp7400 that works find. They seem to be setup the same.
I either get Page not found or connection refused message in the broswer.
I can telnet to the IP and get connected sa the console and get to GSP.

So this is why I'm stuck.
Any Ideas?

Marty

Re: rp2450 LAN / Secure Web console

Telnet to the MP. Goto the command prompt. And do: EW (Enable Web)

MP:CM> ma
MP:CM>

MP MAIN MENU:

CO: Consoles
VFP: Virtual Front Panel (partition status)
CM: Command Menu
CL: Console Logs
SL: Show chassis Logs
HE: Help
X: Exit Connection

MP> cm

Enter HE to get a list of available commands

MP:CM> ew

Current web access parameters:
web console : Enabled
SSL encryption : Enabled
certificate/keypair: Valid

Enable Web access? (Y/[N]) w

I agree with Albert Smith solution.
The Secure WEB console PCI card is the Secure WEB Console card. It is one

Re: rp2450 LAN / Secure Web console

Hi Marty

Just to verify the secure web console runs on a funny port, which is ussually 2023.

http://gsp-ip-addr:2023

I will admit though that I preffer the GSP since it is easier to copy and paste to and from it.

Re: rp2450 LAN / Secure Web console

Hello Marty,

the PCI card you are using in this rp2450 is installed in a PCI slot, but it is not a PCI card. It only gets the power from the system. All other functionality is like a SecureWeb Console. This means you need to configure this card like a external SecureWEB console (small black box).

Configure the IP Adress on the GSP has nothing to do with the IP Adress of this SecureWEB console. The IP Adress of the ScecureWEB console is set to 192.0.0.192 by default.

Check out the following installation cookbook (see Step 4 and 5): http://docs.hp.com/en/1049/secureweb/install.html
(It is for the external version of the SecureWEB console, but it works also for the internal Version which is installed in you rp2450)

Udo

Re: rp2450 LAN / Secure Web console

Well, Looks like it must be broken.
I can do all of what you told me and more on the one server so you have give me sound advise.
On the other hand on the other server nothing is working. I reset the SWC in case the IP had been set. Still nothing. Light flash just fine. It is not a hard thing to do to make it work. On the working server I blew out the settings and re set it with no problem once I under stood how to do it.
So I will have them send me a new one.
Thanks for your help.
