Re: rp2470 GSP error message pls help!!
hi,
The fan is not listed as a spare part orderable at partsurfer.hp.com nor on any other documentation I have.
It sits inside the heatsink and probably wouldnt come out without alot of trouble. The heatsink is also secured to the processor module to stop removal aswell.
Check the warranty on the server, it may still be covered, as some were sold with 3 yrs as standard.

Re: rp2470 GSP error message pls help!!
Hi,
It's not the cpu fan. If it was the cpu fan the cpu was going offline. Futher more before you order a new part please check if there is a higher firmware availeble. Most of the time it's a bug in the firmware.
Also what sometimes will help is power of the whole system disconnect the powercords for about 5 minutes and then reattach them and reboot the system.
Futher more if you buy a cpu and give them the old one back because it's broke you normally get a hugh discount from hp.
grtz. Mark

Re: rp2470 GSP error message pls help!!
HP had come out with a FCO that installs a circuit between the fan and the power plug for the fan. It was do due some fans varying the speed. We have installed about a dozen of theses on certain model RP2XXX Servers.
Check with HP. part number of the retrofit is A6889-62005.
