I plan to order a rp3440 server. I need 2 Serial port for specific purpose on this server. As I found out, rp3440 does not has serial port. It has just 3 serial port on Core IO that will be used for management, connecting to terminal,.....
Would you please explain that rp3440 will be able to have 2 serial port for other usage or not and then do you know which part number I have to order for this case?
Hasan

SolutionHave a look at this link, it contains a list of options and accessories for the rp3400 series.

Scroll down and you'll see "Serial Multiplexer Products"
A pci 8 port serial mux is available (A6748A)
Hope this helps,

Search the pdf for serial, there are 2 serial ports on the box. They're labels state for factory use only. Then there's the console/remote/ups. You might be able to use 'remote', but that's only one port and depending on what it's needed for... hp might not support it. Looks like you'd have to opt for the pci mux. take into account you'd be down to 3 avail pci slots if going this route.

Re: rp3440 and serial ports
You might be able to use a USB-to-serial converter.
Make a great day!

Re: rp3440 and serial ports
The multiplexer card (see above) is your solution.
Hope this helps!
